I’ve spent my career in commercial property, on both sides of the lease — managing hundreds of sites nationally for a large retail and veterinary tenant, then later on the owner-occupier and developer side. Same documents, two very different vantage points. I studied property at Western Sydney University and have worked in it ever since.

From the tenant’s chair the gap was obvious. Obligations lived in spreadsheets, critical dates got chased after the fact, and every report was rebuilt from scratch. The software all assumed you owned the building — the people actually paying the rent and carrying the obligations were left to improvise.
